About Alchemy Coffee

Where coffee becomes community in Philly's historic Rittenhouse

Alchemy Coffee is one of the coffee shops listed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The business is registered at 119 S 21st St, Philadelphia, PA 19103; use this page to check its hours, phone number and Google rating before you make the trip.

In Philadelphia, coffee shops cluster around downtown offices, college campuses and the main commercial streets of residential neighborhoods, and the independents usually close by mid-afternoon while chains stay open into the evening. Across Pennsylvania, drive-thru coffee stands and kiosks fill the gap in suburbs and along highways, and roasters often sell bags and brewing gear at the counter. Check the listing for hours, whether the cafe takes mobile orders, and its Google rating and recent reviews; parking is easiest at suburban locations, while downtown shops rely on street meters or nearby garages. Loyalty programs are common and worth joining if you are a regular.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 7 am–5 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. No phone number is listed for this business, so the Google Maps link on this page is the best route for directions and any contact details Google has on file. More information is available on its website, alchemycoffeephl.com.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.3 out of 5 from 283 reviews, which is a strong result for a coffee shop in Philadelphia and suggests consistent service.

Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Philadelphia follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Maybe going on a Sunday morning isn’t a good idea… the line was a bit long and the space is quite small so it can feel very crowded and you might get bumped into a few times. Definitely not wheelchair friendly but then again, most places in this city aren’t. Despite the long line my drinks were ready fairly quick! The baristas seem to have a system that definitely works for them. The chai was very yummy which I was grateful for (I’m a victim of The Grounds, iykyk)! My cousin got a strawberry matcha after seeing that the syrups are house made. She said it was good but leaning more towards “strawberry milk” aka a bit too sweet… Overall a 3.5/5 Would go again but would try to avoid peak times.

The room had a somewhat austere, industrial feel, but it was quiet enough for me to actually hear myself think. Service was efficient, if a little impersonal. Still, they got my order right and it was ready quickly.

I had such a lovely experience here. Santiago and (my sincerest apologies for forgetting your name) the ethereal blonde angel, were both the sweetest and so friendly. I think it was a Sunday afternoon a few weeks ago, and them being so sweet just added joy to my day. I also had a delicious Americano. Would 10000% come back here, can’t wait to try a new drink ! It was also not super cramped or super busy where you couldn’t get around which is helpful

Don’t get your coffee to go because the cups are so poorly designed that the coffee will seep through and ruin your pants before you get on a 6 hour train ride. Seriously how have they not gotten better cups??? Infuriating

Great coffee. Multiple options of house made syrups. Good pastries as well (I think from Machine Bakery). Place has big windows so plenty of natural light. Really nice cafe to hang around or get some work done. Staff was very nice and patient as well. They get the drinks very ready very quickly - was impressed by the speed. Beans might be from Elixer or their own roast — saw both options in the retail section.
